i pride myself on the fact that i'm a man. truly, i do. thanks to the African culture and tradition. back in those days when i was still a boy, always clad in a multi-coloured underwear or "obante" (as was popularly known then in my village), i had an exciting experience. each time my mum had a visitor, she would invite me to come and break the kola nut. at first, i was embarrassed and saw the action as an insult to her. but she rightly informed me that i was indeed a man. and that no woman was allowed, in our culture, to break kola nuts in the presence of a man. whaaooooo! "is that so?" i said to myself. so i gladly assumed that role... the role of breaking kola nut whenever a visitor came to our house... the role of a man. a man-boy! take note pls... i'm not opposing this tradition. i am a real African man. but then something bothers me seriously; the dehumanization of women. the present government has done much to elevate the Nigerian women. but a lot still needs to be taken care of. that's the reason i tagged this post: "Women De-powerment." in several ways, the dignity of women has been dragged to the mud via:
