Another Owelle is Gone

                                                                             

i was an undergraduate student when Chief Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the Owelle of Onitsha and Zik of Africa died. i was among the few students that gained entrance into Ekpo Refectory where the departed hero was lying in state inside a glass casket. as i watched and took photographs of the lifeless body of Zik with my canon camera, thoughts were rumbling in my mind. one of those thoughts was, "who will take over from Zik? who will be the next Owelle of Onitsha?" one event followed another, and i soon forgot about the question. years have gone, after the death of Zik. and today, i stumbled on the news about the demise of another Owelle of Onitsha, Chief Chukwuma Azikiwe,(the first son of Zik) at the age of 75.
